coder.io coming soon (awesome stuff for developers)
I’m (ab)using my founder’s privilege, sorry! My next major project (after Ruby Inside and Ruby Flow) is heading for release soon and since it’s aimed squarely at developers, you guys are my ideal audience! It’s called coder.io. coder.io hasn’t launched yet but please sign up and you’ll get the first look and eventually some discounts and freebies. Also, no spam.. you’ll only ever get up to 3–4 e-mails since it’s just a launch list.

I’m curious as to why you are using a third party service for the signup or mailing list. Feels a bit spammy, so it seems unnecessary?
phallstrom: Someone else said that so I customized the mail it sends, but not sure if it does any more. All the tests I ran across GMail accounts didn’t have this issue though, so I don’t know. Perhaps you have Mail trained too well for these sort of mails..! :-)
Pistos: 1) Because MailChimp are awesome and their system is easy to use. 2) I don’t want to deal with sending mails or write any code to do that. 3) I don’t want to ensure I’m CAN-SPAM compliant when someone else can do it. 4) I don’t want to deal with mail servers, whitelists, blacklists or send limits (sending mail to AOL is a pain in the ass) when someone else is dealing with those issues every day for their customers. 5) A MailChimp powered mail list component will exist in the finished product so I want to get experience with using MailChimp on something smaller/less intense first. 6) I want as few distractions as possible so I get on with finishing the actual site ;-) Outsourcing FTW!
