Dia 2.0.0 released

Through the use of technology found on Apple’s Leopard and Snow Leopard operating systems, Dia can create dynamic and robust sandbox environments for applications and for blocks of ruby code. The Ruby API was designed to be simple, and a joy to use. I hope you feel the same way :-)

The new public API offers a lot of new features and flexibility to make your life easier. Inter Process Communication(IPC) features are all optional.

This release isn’t backward compatible.

Happy hacking!

Why in the world would you name it Dia? There has been a popular open source diagramming tool named Dia for almost a decade…

the gemcutter hyperlink is missing .org

@Rahul Thanks for pointing that out. The correct address to GemCutter is here.

@whyohwhy “Dia” is taken from the Gaelic language, it means “God”. I wasn’t aware of the Dia diagram program when I named the project. I don’t see the big deal, either. Making something out of nothing?

@robgleeson: No, I don’t think so. It is important to choose unique names for open source projects. Otherwise, you might as well call it Linux.

@whyohwhy

I thought it was unique at the time ;-) I only heard of “Dia” the diagram application after I made the fourth release of Dia.

It is unique in the ruby-sphere as far as I know, and its meaning is different(at least to me it means “God”, not an abbreviation of diagram)

Thanks, Rob
