Gemsmith 12.0.0 is out with improved Semantic Versioning. Inspiration came from publishing Elm packages so Ruby and Elm libraries have similar behavior (see the Gemsmith 12.0.0 release as an example). Additionally, crafting new gems will provide better metadata so your gem will have appropriate source code, changelog, and bug tracker links within RubyGems (example).
