Omega is an open source (AGPLv3+) Universe Simulator written in Ruby (eventmachine) that provides a JSON-RPC API to create, query, and manipulate a user-defined universe in real-time.

Provided is a centralized server broken into isolated subsystems implementing a slew of functionality, from location tracking and management, to user permissions and access control, to context-dependent operations on entities tied to locations, and more.

A comprehensive test suite and documentation is provided, as are many examples and client utilities which may be invoked from the command line, as well as a HTML5 / WebGL frontend based on middleman and three.js.

The project is still in its early stages and more is to be added but the groundwork is in place and would love any feedback or contributions!
